LONG LIVE FURIKAKE, GOODBYE SALT!
A dietitian based in Nice and specializing in pediatrics and oncology, Caroline Joucla is one of those therapists you want to be around. Those who explain a situation clearly and lucidly and, above all, who don't make patients feel guilty.
She has been working with Furifuri since the launch and obviously, we wanted to know the nutritional benefits of furikakés , these Japanese condiments made from seaweed and sesame seeds which are used to season dishes.
" The main benefit of furikakés is that they help reduce the amount of salt consumed . On average, in France, we consume 12g per day, whereas we should not exceed 6 to 8g, according to French recommendations," explains Caroline.
The verdict is therefore clear: we eat on average twice as much salt , with the risks that this entails in terms of high blood pressure and weight gain. "If we listened to the recommendations of the WHO, the World Health Organization, we should ideally consume 2 to 5 g of salt per day," continues Caroline.
"I suggested to several of my patients that they try furikakés on their soups, salads, roast meats, etc. Most were reluctant because they are big salt consumers. The results are incredible; some have not added a single drop of salt to their dishes since replacing it with furikakés ."
Suffice to say that all you have to do is to get your life together and reduce the salt in your daily life !
